How I got my trail name

While on the PCT in 2025, I carried an inflatable air mattress and pillow. Both quickly ended up with holes I was continuously trying to patch. While in Idyllwild, after taking everything to the pool to find the holes, I came back to the house where my current trail fam was all staying. They decided they had a few names for me to try out. One was porcupine. I love animals and porcupines are especially cute. I accepted. So, in this story, I am the porcupine putting holes in all my things.

A woman, Porcupine, sits on the northern terminus monument for the Pacific Crest Trail in a forest with tall trees and mountains in the background. The monument includes flags from the United States, Canada, and Mexico and stuffed animal porcupine.
